U.S. Army Infantry Squad Vehicle
Infantry Squad Vehicle |
The Infantry Squad Vehicle is the U.S. Army's answer to an increasingly lethal battlefield environment, doing away with even a pretense of protection in favor of mobility.
Intended to be used to ferry troops close to the front line before having passengers dismount and fight on foot, the ISV is in many ways a return to the earlier dragoon concept. Based on a commercial truck chassis, the ISV typically does not mount weapons, although the endless ingenuity of soldiers looking to cram firepower on anything that can hold it has doubtless already led to exceptions.
The provided statistics do not take into account any special equipment. Like other open vehicles, attacks may be made directly against passengers, and passengers may fire from the ISV, at a disadvantage.
